UK Remote Gaming Duty Tax at Staggering 15%

Posted under Poker & online poker & poker laws

Over the last few years, the United Kingdom has attempted to make Britain a friendlier place for online poker rooms and casinos to do business, passing all types of new laws and regulations that allow poker rooms and casinos to operate right out of the United Kingdom with little fear of prosecution. Simply complying with regulations that prevent advertising before 9 p.m. on radio or television as well as preventing the gambling of underage children and other caveats would allow online poker rooms and casinos to operate liberally out of the Great Britain and United Kingdom with comfort. This law and regulation package was specifically designed to stimulate the United Kingdom’s gambling economy and resuscitate stalled areas where new revenue chains were badly needed. With a plan that included construction of super casinos and the resuscitation of existing casinos and areas all over the country, Tony Blair had a fixed idea in mind of how to address the problem with online poker rooms and casinos that catered to United Kingdom residents but did not pay taxes in the United Kingdom. By offering services to United Kingdom residents, offshore poker rooms and casinos take advantage of a strong economy, but contribute no taxes.

Despite all the work and effort set forth by Tony Blair in an attempt to prevent just this type of situation, the new man in charge, Gordon Brown, has levied a massive 15% remote gaming duty tax on poker rooms and casinos that operate on the Internet and are based in the United Kingdom. Why the government would want to put all this effort into creating a friendly atmosphere for online poker rooms and casinos such as Fulltiltpoker.com, and then simply pull the rug out from under the entire effort is beyond anyone’s guess. But it is blatantly obvious that no online poker room and casino would have any desire to shut down their establishment and reopen in the United Kingdom with the prospect of paying a massive gaming tax on top of the previously existing operational overhead. Online poker room and casino establishment proprietors had already previously stated that there would be very little interest in moving to the United Kingdom if the taxes there were significantly higher than 2% or 3%.

Due to the wealth of options available to gaming establishments and casinos online, there is no logical reason to open an online poker room or casino in the United Kingdom.

Las Vegas Sands Corporation Makes Record Investment into Internationally Based Casinos

Posted under Poker & las vegas casinos & las vegas poker

With all the investment in international and global markets by Las Vegas hotels and casinos, it only makes sense for the Las Vegas area corporation to get in on the act. But while the Steve Wynn group members were content with establishing casinos and staying the course of normal business, the Las Vegas Sands Corporation has interest only in the construction of what they refer to as integrated structures, super casinos that feature all manner of Independent businesses in a central location that appeal to international travelers. Going on the theory that very few world travelers will be motivated to travel across the world to gamble, but will quickly add locations to their travelogue that feature a wealth of shopping and other types of entertainment and dining experiences, the Las Vegas Sands Corporation has created this exact type of atmosphere, luring visitors from all around the world and tempting them to part with their hard-earned money at the gambling and gaming tables. With the available shopping, restaurants and high profile activities, these super casinos are expected to do very well.

With the continued focus on the expansion of Texas Hold’em poker tournaments into the international community and the construction of more and more poker rooms and casinos, it is clear that the Las Vegas hotel and casino operations companies such as the Steve Wynn group and the Las Vegas Sands corporation that have invested into these markets are focused on maximizing the revenues from the global community to the fullest extent. By exploiting the explosion of popularity of Texas Hold’em poker tournaments in the global community, these types of Las Vegas hotels and casinos that have traditionally operated inside the United States have opened themselves up to a whole new world of profit, taking advantage of the worldwide popularity of Texas Hold’em poker tournaments and games, as well as other types of gambling such as blackjack and roulette. Establishing this entirely new presence in a strange world is not without its financial risks however. The Las Vegas Sands Corporation was forced to take out loans totaling $3.3 billion from eight different lending institutions. This staggering amount of liquid capital required for the construction of these types of massive super casinos is par for the course, however, as the high-stakes and highly competitive world of gaming and gambling continues to expand into the global market.

What Does the Future Hold for Online Poker Room and Casino Players?

Posted under Poker & casino poker & casinos & internet poker & online poker

Playing in online poker rooms and casinos such as Fulltiltpoker.com has been a popular source of fun and entertainment on the Internet since the inception of these types of Internet-based gambling institutions. But with the introduction of any type of gaming and gambling on the Web, the United States government naturally has to do their part and see what type of difficulties they can dole out to these fledgling institutions. With the focus of the United States government on reducing the ability of online poker rooms and casinos ability to conduct business on the Internet, it becomes clear that any type of online poker room and casino that wishes to remain profitable in the future will have to find some way to circumvent these types of restrictive regulations and laws that are continuously being passed by United States legislators and lawmakers. Until some type of workaround is adopted, the profits in online poker rooms and casinos might never again rival the earnings that were seen in the early days of these types of businesses on the web

In the future, it is hard to say what might wait for online poker room and casino players, but it is safe to say that the government doesn’t seem very likely to end the countless amounts of attacks and instances of overzealous regulations that are aimed at online poker rooms and casinos such as Fulltiltpoker.com. With all the attention that the United States government has paid to online poker rooms and casinos and the gambling institutions that are dedicated to conducting business solely through the Internet, it remains very unlikely that the online poker rooms and casinos that are so popular will have a very bright future and the professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament players that enjoy these types of recreational activities will very likely have to move on to other, greener pastures.
In some cases, the future seems bright indeed, as many online poker rooms and casinos have broadened their user base, appealing to a wider audience throughout the international community. But as far as the United States online poker room and casino and their ability to conduct business on United States soil, there is nothing but bad news on the horizon. In fact, the United States government has prepared a tax aimed at the online poker room casino players, the first time any such tax has ever been levied against users of these types of services on the Web.

United States Student University Wins First Leg of Asia-Pacific Poker Tour-World Stunned

Posted under Poker & poker tournament

Brett Parise, a student from the University of California studying economics and political science, beat out over 200 other competitors to win the first leg of the famous Poker Stars Poker Tour Monday in Manila. Gambling for high stakes for three straight days, the 22-year-old student managed to take the win after much difficulty and extended play. Aggressively beating out his opponents, Brett managed to come out ahead and take the $180,000 prize as well as a seat in the Sydney final game. Parise has been a successful poker player since the age of 18 and won a seat in the Poker Stars tournament via a competition hosted for free online. The poker tournament has drawn attention from all over the world and players have traveled from all around to compete against each other for the $500,000 prize that is shared between the nine finalists. This attention is considered to be healthy for the sport, as the more exposure that poker receives from the media, the more new players tend to start playing for the first time. Encouraging new players to join and begin playing poker is a highly beneficial side effect of hosting such lucrative poker tournaments, both for the player and for the establishment.

With young players such as Brett Parise winning and garnering attention from the public, poker can continue to draw younger and younger sponsors to the unique entertainment offering that poker represents. With the success of the World Series of Poker Tournament in Las Vegas, the National Poker League and the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour as well as the multitude of other poker championships and poker tournaments, it is easy to see that the popularity of poker is far more than just a passing phase and that the emphasis on playing games and skills such as poker has become more and more popular as time goes by. With the wealth of televised events and media fascination with young new players such as Brett, the exposure of poker to the mainstream can only continue to blossom.

Brett’s mother was quoted as saying that she had no idea he had won the seat in the poker tournament, commenting that his father would have to accompany him to Sydney, Australia. Brett said he enjoyed playing poker but it would very likely not be his full-time occupation, considering it would not be in line with his education and degree.

Under Age Gambling Grows to Epic Proportions in the United States

Posted under Poker & internet poker & online casinos & online poker

While many online poker room and casino players would argue that it is a non issue, the amount of under age gamblers playing in online poker rooms and casinos has reached staggering proportions, as the difficulty in verifying the age of the player, combined with the willingness of parents, who often allow their underage children to play in these types of online poker rooms and casinos in many cases, has allowed the problem to spiral out of control and encouraged the tremendous population of under age players in online poker rooms and casinos on the Internet. With this encroaching problem amongst today’s Internet savvy youth, it has become apparent that some measure of protection must be enacted for online poker rooms and casinos to remain safe from under age players who are simply not legally allowed to play in these types of rooms and gamble on the Internet. While it is nearly impossible to discourage these type of users from playing in online poker rooms and casinos, more and more critics are claiming that online poker rooms should be banned from the United States altogether.

Despite all the commotion, the truth is, online businesses have always had these difficulties. Any adult materials will always be the subject of fascination by those who are under age and not legally allowed to partake in these types of activities, and have always proved to be impossible to completely isolate from curious underage parties. Without any reliable method of filtering out under age players from online poker rooms and casinos, as well as other adult oriented sites, it remains to be seen what type of business model might emerge that allows for online poker rooms and casinos to effectively deter under age players at websites such as Fulltiltpoker.com.

With more and more restrictive laws being passed all the time by the United States government, it is only a matter of time before some type of regulations that address the proliferation of under age players in online poker rooms and casinos is passed and begins to affect the ability of online poker rooms and casinos such as Fulltiltpoker.com to do business on the Internet. In the future, it is very likely that some type of age verification system will be required by law, at the cost of the online poker room.

The Truth about Playing Poker Professionally

Posted under Poker & poker games & poker tournament & professional poker & texas holdem

Anyone who has ever seen a movie or television program covering the lives of professional poker players might be under the impression that these players lead glamorous lives of excess and luxury on the level of royalty. Hollywood and the television industry go out of their way to depict these players as some type of international playboy, living the good life and enjoying all the finer things. The truth about the professional poker player is far different, as poker players have to put up with all kinds of inhospitable conditions as well as deal with multiple difficulties in building and maintaining their career as well as continuing to make it to the table on a regular basis.

The difficulties begin as soon as the poker player begins building a bankroll. The difficulty in building a strong bankroll cannot be overstated, as during the process of building this bankroll you will no doubt be brought back to square one on several occasions. While this process is normal, it can be very frustrating for the professional poker player. Being under this pressure to succeed, knowing that you have no safety net should you manage to burn through your bankroll, is devastating to the poker player. Walking a thin line between being on top and being on the bottom, the professional poker player has little other choice but to stay in the game, not necessarily because they might want to, but because they have no other choice. Once locked into the professional poker player lifestyle, there is very little chance of leaving it for any other type of income. Players get locked into the lifestyle that allows the poker player to become completely encompassed in poker, which can come with all manner of bad habits, which makes them even more dependent on the poker player lifestyle to make ends meet.

Once the poker player has committed to the professional lifestyle, it is very difficult indeed to maintain his existence, as there is never a break from the nonstop poker game that the professional must participate in to remain on top. The never ending stream of competitors, money and the drain on the players resources from staying in hotels and other locations while gaming and gambling can very quickly lead the poker playing professional to become burned out.

While this information likely would not be scary to anybody who intends to become a professional poker player, it is important to know that the professional poker player lifestyle is nowhere near as glamorous as many have been led to believe.

Online Poker Room and Casino Effort in Europe a Smash Success

Posted under Poker & online casinos & online poker & poker rooms

With all the difficulties in the past between online poker rooms and casinos and the United States government, it only makes sense that establishment proprietors would begin to look overseas into areas such as Europe to base their online poker rooms and casinos, rather than deal with the difficult and treacherous waters of the United States government and their overzealous crackdown on poker rooms on the Internet. As more and more online poker rooms and casinos target the foreign market, the United States government is increasingly clueless and continues to squander a veritable fortune in available revenue.

The economic outlook in the European market seems so positive in fact that even the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, traditionally an off-line, brick and mortar establishment, has set their sights on the European market as an untapped gold mine of potentially profitable new online poker room and casino players in the European market. With the Las Vegas Sands Corporation and its attempt to reach out to international markets to prop up the incoming revenue stream for the ubiquitous Las Vegas hotels and casinos throughout the world, it is fairly obvious that many traditionally domestically based gambling and gaming institutions have begun to doubt the domestic markets ability to effectively recuperate from the latest economic downturn as quickly as it has in the past. With all the discussion of limited revenue and minimal forecasted returns in the near future, it is not surprising that so many of these traditionally United States-based industries have begun to look to overseas economies and developing nations for incoming revenue. With the vacuum created by the slumping domestic market, organizations such as the Las Vegas Sands Corporation have had little choice but to look beyond the local horizons and utilize the international community and the global market in an attempt to recover from the reduced the amount of revenue generated in the domestic market.

Fortunately for establishment proprietors, the returns from the European market for online poker rooms such have been overwhelmingly successful, as more and more European players log onto the Internet to take part in the gambling and gaming that occurs in the world-famous poker rooms and casinos on the web. As the game of online poker becomes more and more popular in the international community, it is very likely that many of these online poker rooms and casinos will begin to switch their focus to this new emerging market.
