While it is important to note that there are many people who enjoy playing blackjack, the game itself features odd that are so ridiculously stacked against the player that they might as well not even bother playing. Considering the fact that the odds are so far stacked against you that when players begin to achieve victory at blackjack, they are automatically suspected of cheating, it should generally be avoided like the plague. Even worse than this and more indicative of the odds against the player is the fact that when players begin to win consistently at blackjack and are suspected of cheating, it is usually because they are actually cheating. Winning consistently at blackjack is so far removed from the realm of reality that there is a good chance that you have never even heard the term professional blackjack player. The reason there are no full-time professional blackjack players is that no human on earth could possibly bankroll such a losing proposition. The simple truth about games such as blackjack, roulette and other types of events in gaming establishments and casinos is that they are all eventually going to benefit the house, the establishment will always win and the player will always go home broke, lucky if they have enough fuel to drive their car home from Las Vegas or whatever other location they managed to find gambling action in.
Compared with blackjack, Texas Hold’em poker and the concept of playing in Texas Hold’em poker tournament events seems like the best odds on earth. The simple fact is, while Texas Hold’em poker is played against other opponents, games such as roulette and blackjack are played against the house, and are never going to give the player a chance to come out ahead. Despite the odds, players will still continue to play blackjack and lose. In Texas Hold’em poker, whether in tournament play or playing for cash in a cash game, the odds are predicated on the players that the player is playing against and modified by the individual skills of these opponents. If the player is skilled enough, the odds are increased greatly in his or her favor. Considering that many professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament players have been playing for extended amounts of time, most of their lives in many cases, it is an easy enough guess to hazard that the professional Texas Hold’em poker tournament player will enjoy better odds than most simply due to their abilities.
When comparing blackjack to the game of Texas Hold’em and the concept of playing in Texas Hold’em poker tournaments, there really is no comparison.
