Worlds Largest Online Poker Tournament

Posted under internet poker & online poker & poker tournament

Full Tilt Poker will attempt to stamp its name on the Guinness Records and to do so; the site has announced that it will try to set a new record for the Largest Online Poker Tournament. Full Tilt’s Record Breaker tournament was unveiled as the finale to FIVE, a week of events and promotions created exclusively to celebrate the site’s 5th anniversary. The tournament will take place on July 19th at 15:05ET, players can buy in for this event for only $5 or 1000 Full Tilt Points and compete for a share of a $250,000 guaranteed with $250,000 added prize pool. Players can also get entries to this event by playing the online satellites available on the site and starting for as little as 30 cents or 50 Full Tilt Points.

Team Full Tilt pros and WSOP bracelet winners Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey have already confirmed they will take part in the event, offering players the chance to sit down at this historic tournament and play with some of the best high stakes and tournament pros in the world.

“By extending the limits of what is possible in online poker tournaments, Full Tilt Poker will allow players to compete for a big payout without the big buy-in,” said Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer.

Putting together a poker tournament of this magnitude would be nearly impossible for any brick and mortar casino or poker room. The current record for the largest “live” poker tournament was set at the 2006 WSOP Main Event with 8,772 players. To break the current Guinness Record set by PokeStars.com in December, 2008, Full Tilt Poker will need to attract over 35.000 players. If successful, this tournament will establish Full Tilt Poker as World Record holder and cement its reputation as a world leader in online poker industry.

Shunning Disturbances when you are playing Texas Holdem Poker

Posted under Poker & online poker & poker information

poker
The benefits of online Texas Holdem versus actual poker rooms are countless, but with these rewards there are also some disadvantages. Internet poker lets non-professional Texas Hold em players the ability to play in pro Texas Hold em Tournaments with pro Texas Hold em players, but these at-home players must avoid any distractions that could possibly hurt their opportunities to become a poker champ.

Many online Texas Holdem poker players become diverted by what is happening around them, or perhaps by the online poker site they are competing on. These interruptions can in truth cost them great hands and most likely their well-deserved Texas Holdem Poker chips. The game of poker is a game of proficiency and also total awareness, no matter if you are competing at online Texas Holdem, or in a real poker room.

Perhaps, the greatest slip-up that Full Tilt Poker players commit is by being involved in more than one table simultaneously. The better part of amateur Full Tilt Poker players will think that this is a good idea, but at the end of the day it could possibly workout to be a harm. This method of playing a number of Texas Hold em poker tables simultaneously will impair your focus and ultimately cost you money. Always remember that even the best Texas Holdem poker players out there will make harmful miscalculations while concentrating their mind on a number of online poker tables at the same time.

Any particular internet poker player, may at any instant, find themselves playing several Full Tilt Poker tables at one time, at the same time as they are watching TV, reading their favorite poker blogs, text messaging friends etc. This is a situation which must be avoided if you aspire to win poker games and make the grade for big Full Tilt Poker tournaments. Remember to direct your mind on the other internet poker player’s bets, their actions, and your own online Texas Holdem hands if you desire to be the best Texas Hold em player.

Ben Affleck Among Supporters of Online Poker

Posted under Poker & internet poker & online poker & poker stars

Shortly after the opening of last week’s charity celebrity poker event to help the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Ben Affleck goes all-in with a flop of Ace-Nine-King and two diamonds. He winces when two of his opponents call the bet. He yells “Re-buy”, but the turn is a seven of hearts. Affleck is upset when a jack of diamonds is dealt on the river. He took the hand seriously even though there was no real cash at stake. This is just the kind of thing that Affleck and several other internet poker enthusiasts are petitioning for.

Over $100,000 was raised for the paralyzed victims, but this was not the only function of the poker game held in Coors Field. Members of the Poker Players Alliance are working very hard to legalize online poker in the United States. As part of their agenda, they are pushing to repeal the 2006 legislation Congress passed which prohibits U.S. Banks and credit card companies from processing transactions related to internet gaming websites.

John Pappas, executive director of the Poker Players Alliance, is optimistic about the direction that the new congress will lead this decision. Pappas says that the alliance is pushing for a licensed industry, just for online poker, and not for all online gambling. Pappas is interested in having a safe, regulated industry that all Americans can enjoy. The group is fighting for the rights of people and the privacy they deserve in their own home.

“There are misconceptions about poker and about online poker,” poker pro Andy Bloch said in between hands during the charity celebrity poker tournament. “Some people think that internet gaming is gambling like a slot machine, and it’s not.”
